Market Capitalisation
The total value of a cryptocurrency, calculated by multiplying the current price by the total circulating supply. Bitcoin's market cap is the largest of any cryptocurrency.
Market capitalisation offers a quick way to gauge the relative size and dominance of a cryptocurrency. It is calculated as price multiplied by circulating supply. Because it accounts for supply, market cap is often a more meaningful comparison than price alone — a low-priced coin with a vast supply can have a larger market cap than a high-priced coin with a small supply. Bitcoin's dominance, its share of total crypto market cap, is a widely tracked metric of market sentiment.
