HWallets & Keys
Hot Wallet
A cryptocurrency wallet connected to the internet, such as a mobile app or exchange account. Hot wallets are convenient for frequent transactions but are more vulnerable to hacking than cold wallets.
Hot wallets keep private keys on internet-connected devices, making them fast and convenient for everyday spending, trading, and small balances. The trade-off is exposure: because they are online, they are more susceptible to malware, phishing, and remote attacks than offline cold storage. A common strategy is to keep only spending money in a hot wallet — much like a physical wallet — while storing larger, long-term holdings in a cold wallet.
